چکیده
Calcium protection against lead and manganese toxicity Abstract Chronic exposure to lead (Pb) or manganese (Mn) is known to alter variety of neurological and behavioral functions. In this study, we have examined the neuro-behavioral perturbations in rats exposed to both Pb and Mn, and the protective effect of calcium supplement. Rats (3 months old) were exposed to Pb (0.2% through drinking water) and Mn (intraperitonially daily at a concentration of 2.5 mg/kg body wt) for a period of 3 weeks.

Olive leaf extract reverses the behavioral disruption and oxidative stress induced by intrastriatal injection of 6-hydroxydopamine in rats
Introduction: Oxidative stress seems to play a critical role in the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Antioxidant compounds can deactivate and scavenge free radical. Olive leaves are considered as a useful source of phenolic compounds. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the effects of methanolic olive leaf extract (OLE) on neurobehavioral act...

Objective: Stressors have an important role in sickness behaviors. We checked the effect of Zataria multiflora (ZM) extract against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced anxiety and depression behaviors in rats. Material and Methods: Rats were distributed in the following groups (n=10): Control, LPS (1 mg/kg), LPS-ZM50, LPS-ZM100 and LPS-ZM200. LPS was syringed intraperitoneally (ip) 2 hr bef...

متن کاملEffects of Infantile Repeated Hyperglycemia on Behavioral Alterations in Adult Rats
Anxiety symptoms have been reported to be present in many patients with diabetes mellitus. However, little is known about the effects of hyperglycemia in critical periods of the central nervous system development. We assessed locomotive, exploratory, and anxiety behaviors in adult rats that remained from infantile repeated hyperglycemia by the open field and elevated plus maze tests. Our findin...
متن کاملFlaxseed Oil and Treadmill Running Improve Behavioral Outcomes in Rats Exposed to Lead
Background and Objective: Lead entry into the body causes considerable damages to the brain in the long term. We aimed to investigate the effects of exercise (treadmill running) and flaxseed oil on lead acetate-induced behavioral deficits in male rats. Materials and Methods: 60 rats were divided into 6 groups: Control (C), Exercise (Ex), Flaxseed oil (FO), Lead (L), Lead- Exercise (L-Ex), and...
